What We Do

    Sustainable socio economic development , capacity building and conservation and preservation of language and culture of the Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and OBC people of Assam .

    Mission

    To enhance the welfare of the Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and OBC people Of Assam through qualitative research and capacity building programmes.

    List of Functions

    The major functions of this Institute are

    (1) Research

    (2) Evaluation

    (3) Planning and

    (4) Training.

    Besides these the other functions includes publication of books, Annual Research Bulletin, Advertisement and Publicity for highlight the activities of AIRTSC, awareness camp on health, forestry etc, Grants-in-aid to authors for publication of books written on SC/ST, organisation of seminar/workshop, participation in exhibition of state , regional and national levels, award of doctoral and post doctoral fellowship as per selection of Govt. of India, maintenance of ethnographic museum, reference library, data bank on SC/ST, documentation centre, documentation of tribal life and culture through audio-visual means and so on.

    Key Objective

    • To carry out research and evaluation study on developmental, ethnographical and socio political issues of the weaker section of the society .
    • Capacity Building programmes for the ST/SC/OBC youth ,Govt. Officials and NGOs
    • Provide a forum for discussion and presentation of pressing issues affecting STs/SCs.
    • Conservation and preservation of language and culture of the ST/SC and OBC people of the state
    • To create a Data Base for issues related to STs, SCs and to preserve books on STs and SCs
